• 19''' gilt lever movement, free sprung regulation, diamond end stone, bi metallic compensation balance • off white Willis style enamel dial, painted black radial Roman numerals, blued steel double Spade hands, subsidiary dials for constant seconds and 60 minute register • 18k yellow gold half hunting case, swivel thief-proof bow, cuvette with presentation inscription, slide and chronograph button to the case band, monogrammed case back • movement signed

Condition

The movement is running at time of cataloguing, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement. Case in overall good vintage condition with wear, light and even oxidation and scuffing consistent with use and age. Case back with a small indentation in the upper right area. Case back monogrammed "CR." Some loss to the blue Roman marks on the front of case. Normal scuffs and wear to both sides. Cuvette inscribed "Presented to Charles S Reed 'The Eighth Wonder Of The World," by his business associate, William B Walker, Sept. 26th, 1906." Movement with heavy oxidation to the main plate. Inscribed on the inside of the case with "Makers to the Admiralty, Sir John Bennett Jr, 65 Cheapside London." Movement is running in good condition. Chronograph and repeating functions working properly.
