Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Bovet certificate of origin, booklets, a polishing cloth, a pair of handling gloves, a leather bi-fold, and a presentation box with outer packaging.

The lineage of the Bovet house has been historically linked to China since its founding in 1822. Bovet was established by four brothers from Fleurier, Switzerland. Three of the brothers, Edouard, Frédéric, and Alphonse, opened their firm in London in 1815, making watches for the domestic market. Having realized the great potential of the Chinese market, the Bovets established their own company in Canton, China. With great success, the name “Bovet” became almost synonymous with the word “watch” for the Chinese.

Today, under the ownership and guidance of Pascal Raffy, a visionary with a passion for Haute Horlogerie, Bovet continues to create exquisite timepieces distinguished by their pocket watch inspired form with the crown at 12.

The present lot is unique and manufactured for the third Only Watch Auction in 2011. The watch is housed in an Amadeo case, allowing the wearer to convert their timepiece into a table clock, pocket watch, or wristwatch without the use of tools. A reversible dial is specially designed for the Bovet tourbillon, which is beautifully articulated with finely engraved details. The singular hand chased case is a symbol of Bovet's history and commitment to the Chinese market.
