Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin. Together with an additional black diamond set dial, a solid case back, a setting pin, a leather bi-fold, and a presentation box with outer packaging.

Launched in 1986, Ref. 3970 redefined the perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch for the next generation. Replacing the highly coveted Ref. 2499, it boasted a new Lemania based ébauche movement. Ref. 3970 was discontinued in 2004 and replaced by the Ref. 5970.

The present example is from the third series, fitted with a sapphire crystal display back as well as an additional solid screw back. The rarity of this Ref. 3970 is further enhanced by its excellent condition and present accompaniments.
