Catalogue Note

Accompanied by provenance documents from the original estate sale.

Sid Caesar was a two-time Emmy winning comedy icon, changing the face of American comedy and television in the 1950s onward. Working with an impressive group of all-star writers including Mel Brooks, Neil Simon, and Woody Allen, Caesar introduced a new kind of humor to the small screen. Using deeper character development and scenarios, sketches on Your Show of Shows and Caesar's Hour paved the way for today's modern television.

The present lot, worn and owned by Sid Caesar, is a true collector’s item in remembrance of this comedic force of nature in America's first Golden Age of Television.
