Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Certificate of Origin and an Extract from the Archives confirming the date of sale on July 9th, 1986. Together with a Patek Philippe leather bi-fold and booklets.

Ref. 3940 was produced from about 1986 to 2007, succeeding Ref. 3448 and Ref. 3450. The design was so well received that when it too was succeeded in 2007 by Ref. 5140, the subtle design differences of the latter were nearly indiscernible.

An example of the Ref. 3940 is illustrated in Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, Patek Philippe Wristwatches, 2nd ed., 1998, p. 292–293.
