Launched in 2016, MB&F debuted the limited edition LM1 Silberstein as a set of three different wristwatches in titanium, black PVD-treated titanium and red gold — each in a limited edition of only 12 pieces.

The MB&F LM1 Silberstein was made in collaboration with the whimsical French independent watch designer Alain Silberstein, and represents the first time MB&F has done a Performance Art watch with the same person twice.

LM1 Silberstein features Jean-Francois Mojon designed and Kari Voutilainen finished manually wound mechanical movement produced from 279 parts with a power reserve of 45 hours. The movement is designed to have two independent dials for the face, as well as a linear power reserve indicator. Moreover, the balance wheel bridge on this timepiece is produced from a transparent sapphire crystal which took the atelier two years to develop. Combined with the exquisite-finished movement, the signature design of Alain Silberstein employs his infamous use of primary colours and geometric shapes: red, blue, and yellow; with triangles, rectangles and circles for the hands and dial markers—which three-dimensionally merges as a cone, cube and sphere for the power reserve. The two subsidiary dials for telling time are convex in which they seamlessly complement the convex sapphire crystal dome.

Additionally, Alain Silberstein left his mark on the lower side of the case. A discreet inscription on the on the edge of the bezel reveals Silberstein’s motto, "Le vrai bonheur est d'avoir sa passion pour métier," roughly translating into “making a profession of your passion is true happiness.” Not only does the inscription create a dash of playfulness and humour, but also represents the manifestation of both MB&F and Silberstein’s passion for horology.

To the best of our knowledge, this is the debut of LM1 Silberstein after its introduction. This present lot in titanium is a must-have for watch aficionados and is a true testament to MB&F’s dedication to innovation and a modern aesthetic.
