Condition

The movement in working condition at the time of cataloguing. It was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement. The dial is in very good condition, base on the texture of the dial, no obvious sign on restoration. Case in very good condition with some inevitable light scuffs, the texture on the case evenly distributed no sign of worn. Overall in very good condition for its age.

Catalogue Note

Accompanied by a Seiko certificate, letter confirming the present lot was kept at the Seiko Museum from June 1, 2014 to End of August, 2014 and presentation box.

After becoming the first non-Switzerland based company who successfully get into top ten of Crystal Chronometer in 1963, Seiko kept advancing the movement design and joining different Swiss Chronometry contests, which makes Seiko became the top finished in the mechanical movement from Concours de Genève.   

Together with cal.4520, Seiko in total certified 226 observatory wristwatches. The present watch is believed to be launched between 1969 to 1970.
