The first brooch of floral design, centring upon a cabochon rubellite to the carved aquamarine petals, decorated with circular-cut diamonds, cabochon peridot and pink tourmaline floral and foliate, mounted in 18 karat yellow gold, signed Ch Dior, numbered, with French export assay and maker's marks; and the second brooch designed as a bouquet, set with calibré-cut and cabochon rubies, sapphires and emeralds, accented with circular-cut diamonds and pink tourmaline half hoop, mounted in yellow gold, signed Dior, case stamped Christian Dior

Condition

The first brooch: Signed Ch Dior, numbered 001, with French export assay mark for gold and French maker's mark. Rubellite estimated to weigh approximately 3.60 carats in total, of purplish pink colour and medium strong saturation; pink tourmalines estimated to weigh approximately 0.40 carat in total; of purplish pink colour and light saturation; all with minor typical inclusions and a few are surface reaching, some nicks. Peridots estimated to weigh approximately 35.00 carats in total, each with carved crisscross motif at the base, majority are moderately included, some nicks and minor scratches. Five carved aquamarines of light blue colour and light saturation, with typical inclusions and some are surface reaching, some nicks. Diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 2.60 carats in total, are on average E to F colour, VVS to VS clarity, as gauged and graded in the mounting. Signs of normal wear to the metal consistent with use, with a few tarnished spots and some minor discolouration, some gold setting at the back with fissure lines and a few are broken, but will not affect the durability of the brooch. Overall in good condition. The second brooch: Signed Dior. Mounting in yellow gold as tested. Rubies, emeralds and sapphires estimated to weigh approximately 2.50 carats in total; rubies are red to purplish red colour and medium strong saturation; emeralds are green of medium to medium strong saturation; sapphires are blue of medium strong saturation; all with typical inclusions and a few are surface reaching, with some nicks. Three tourmaline of purplish pink colour and light saturation, one tourmaline is eye-clean, two with typical inclusions and an inclusion is surface reaching. Diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 1.20 carats in total, are on average F to G colour, mainly VS clarity, as gauged and graded in the mounting.
