Condition

Overall in good restored condition. Each of the elements (metal mount, and glass elements) bear an original number to facilitate the mounting. The glass with a few minor surface irregularities, particulate inclusions and minor air bubbles inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The surfaces with a few light surface scratches, minor edge abrasions and light surface soiling commensurate with age and gentle use, the edges of the glass panels with a few occasional and minor chips (some polished), not visible when the chandelier is installed. The large panel number 5 with a chip to the side edge, adjacent to the metal mount and measuring approximately 2 1/4 inch in length. Another panel with a chip adjacent to the interior of the panel, measuring approximately 3 1/2 inches in length. One of the hunting scene elements with a small polished chip at the upper edge. Another of these elements with a few restored cracks, some barely visible and one that is slightly more visible with a very minor associated loss, and a tension hairline. One of the elements with a restored crack that is barely visible. One of the elements with a restored chip adjacent to the corner on the bottom edge. One of the hunting scene elements is slightly shorter in lenght than the others and requires that a small modifying element (such as cork or collagen) be added to the mount to ensure stable installation. The metal mount appears original as well as the hanging system tubes. The metal with a few surface scratches, minor oxidation and light surface soiling consistent with age and gentle use. The sockets are screw sockets and the chandelier appears to be electrically stable. When viewed in person, the chandelier presents with great scale, and great detailing to the hunting scenes. A rare and early work by René Lalique.
