Condition

Overall good condition. The paper has uneven edges and losses, the edges of the calque are in tact. The work is attached to the mat backing at all four corners with mounting tape, verso. At approximately 1 1/2 inch from right edge of the paper there is a 1 inch diagonal tear with an associated loss; the tear extends 1/4 inch into the calque, visible in current matting and in the catalogue illustration. The paper with another tear in left edge approximately 3 1/2 inches from the lower right corner measuring 1 inch in length (vertical) and and extending 1/4 inch into the calque, visible in current matting and in the catalogue illustration. The calque with a hard flattened crease in the extreme lower left corner and two hard horizontal creases extending through the work just below the center about 1 inch apart with some associated discoloration. The calque with handling marks, creases and surface dirt throughout. The paper and to a lesser extent the calque show signs of foxing. The paper with some discolorations, verso. With some time-staining and evidence of mat burn in the margins. A delicate rendering by Mackintosh for the Argyle Tea Rooms.
