Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade is composed of an artistic mix of transparent glass tiles, indicating that it is an early production likely originally intended for a kerosene base. The shade with approximately 9 cracks throughout, all seemingly stable. The shade with light surface soiling to the glass and adjacent borders of the shade leading throughout, consistent with age and gentle handling. The shade does not appear to have any replaced glass tiles and the leading throughout appears undisturbed. When viewed in person, the shade presents with a slightly warmer, more orange hue than in the catalogue illustration. The base with areas of wear to the gilt patina, light surface scratches, minor abrasions and light surface soiling, and scattered small areas of discoloration consistent with age and gentle handling. All three sockets and paddle switches appear to be original and undisturbed. With period finial with threaded pin. A very charming early example of the “Crocus” shade design.
