sturdily-potted, the gently rounded sides rising from a short footring to an everted rolled rim, carved to the interior with a trellis diaper medallion encircled by freely incised scrolling lotus, the underside undecorated, covered overall with a lustrous sea-green celadon glaze

Provenance

Collection of Aileen Aderton (1904-2005), Maryland, acquired in Kyoto, 1948 and thence by descent.

Condition

A potting flaw to the underside of the exterior in the form of a narrow chasm approximately 1 inch in length, as well as scattered minor firing imperfections throughout. Rim and footring uneven. Expected wear to surface and footring.
