cast seated in lalitasana with right arm resting on the right knee and left arm supported on a bolster and holding a 'pearl', wearing a sanghati, antaravasaka, elaborate jewelry and foliate tiara centered by the figure of Amitabha Buddha above the full face with downcast eyes, the pierced rockwork base with a monkey, dragon and ox gazing upward towards the deity, wood stand (2)

Provenance

Acquired in Boston 1940-1960s, and thence by descent.

Condition

The pedestal has a break to the bottom edge at the back, as well as a stable break to one side of the waisted section. There are some small holes scattered, including one to the top of the head, and some areas of old infill. General wear and accretion to surface, consistent with age.
