Description

  • ivory and wood
deeply carved around the exterior with a scene of the Tang Emperor and his concubine Yang Guifei in the Pear Garden, all between a lotus lappet band at the base and ruyi, lotus scroll and stiff leaf bands at the shoulder and rim, wood stand

Condition

The vase is in good condition with the exception of an age crack running around the shoulder, vertically down the length of the body and under and across the foot extending into two further cracks running 1-2cm., back up the body, and some minor age-related lines in the ivory.
