Description

  • STONEWARE
each with deep rounded sides rising from a short slightly tapered foot to a narrow groove below the rim, one covered overall with a lustrous black glaze, thinning at the rim with russet streaks extending downwards, the other covered with a brown glaze thinning at the rim with radiating black streaks (2)

Provenance

Right: Sotheby's London, 10th June 1986, lot 153.

Condition

The brown glazed bowl has an approx. 1cm by 5mm chip to the edge of the foot and there is an approx. 8mm linear glaze inconsistency just below the rim to the exterior. It is also slightly mis-shaped as the rim does not form a perfect circle when it is held in the hand. The black and russet glazed bowl is in good condition, with minor wear and burst bubbles to the interior.
