the well-hollowed tapering vessel deftly carved in the form of the recumbent mythical bird, with finely stylised plumage and long curled tail elegantly flared upwards toward the back, carved to one side with a clambering chilong above an archaistic scroll band, the stone of a greyish celadon tone with black specks

Condition

This rhyton is in good condition, but there is a small approx. 2 by 2mm bruise to the back of the rim. There is also three flaws running vertically from the rim, one through the tail and two through the right wing of the phoenix.
