the steep rounded sides painted to the exterior with pairs of mandarin ducks depicted swimming and flying amidst large iron-red lotus blooms, below a narrow band of underglaze blue dragons in pursuit of 'flaming pearls', the interior similarly decorated with a central medallion enclosing a pair of ducks in a lotus pond, below a band of lança characters encircling the rim, the base inscribed with a six-character seal mark

Condition

The bowl is in overall good condition. There are characteristic firing imperfections and light surface wear, as well as enamel crackles and flakes, particularly to the green enamel, the most visible measuring approx 0.5 by 0.6 cm to one leaf on the interior.
