Condition

Overall measurements: 140cm across the top, 138cm across the bottom, 219cm along the left side, 207cm along the right side. Vertical fragment from larger tapestry, with a horizontal cut and join across with width of the fragment, level with top of beard of turbaned figure (approximately 72cm from the top edge). Now lacking borders, with later modern blue textile outer selvedges. Mounted with natural coloured linen backing, later modern blue selvedges, and with Velcro across the top for hanging purposes. Slightly pulled tension in bottom right corner so is not flat. Faded light colours, for example clothing of lady bottom left corner, and with some repairs to highlights, for example to folds of drapery of both kneeling figures in bottom right corner, and to highlights in other area of clothing to others for example to dark indigo blue clothing and to the turban. There are some later rewoven areas, for example the areas of lime green and spot areas of olive coloured green in the background across the lower half, and the lime green around the figures in the very centre. Some minor tinting in areas. Spot old rewoven spot repairs in areas, for example blue robe of standing figure far right edge. Colours in sky area and across top edge faded generally.
