Condition

The panel onto which the canvas is laid is flat, stable and uncradled. The paint surface is table and slightly dirty. The varnish is even and slightly discolored. There are no major damages visible to the naked eye. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals areas of retouching scattered throughout the composition, most notably the right edge, in the sitter's forehead, and in and to the left of the sitter's right eye, the largest of which measures 2 x 6 cm. In overall moderate condition.
