The present work was made when Peter Blake and his wife Jann Haworth were invited by the Festival Gallery in Bath to put on an exhibition at the Bath Festival. In a text accompanying the exhibition Blake wrote: 'I have always liked to give pictures to people, but as I paint and draw rather slowly, it isn't really practical, as a professional painter, to give paintings away anymore. So I have made this group of souvenirs to be given to the person to whom each is dedicated. Most are rather slight, but each one is, I hope, something personal that the recipient will like to have.'
