woven with fighting figures before a seated figure with a harp, with distant buildings on the horizon, with section of vertical side borders, reduced in size, lacking upper and lower borders, with later narrow outer selvedges,

Condition

Overall measurements: 276cm across the top, 269cm across the bottom, 217cm along the left side, 211cm along the right side. Slightly misshaped.Tapestry has been reduced in size. Later outer banded selvedge attached to all four edges.Only left and right hand borders present, with the inner edges of oxidised dark brown with repair and reweaving. There are some old tapestry repairs and areas of spot reweaving. There is extensive later surface embroidery across the whole tapestry, which gives the definition overall. Decorative and in stable condition. The reverse has later backing through which all the stitching is present.
