Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is very good with minor surface dirt, particularly in the crevices, and wear to the patina at the high points consistent with age and handling. There is some white residue, probably the remains of an old label, on the base on the proper left side.

Catalogue Note

The Hébrard foundry's chef-modèle of this Baigneuse - first bronze version of a model cast by the foundry in order to set the qualitative standard for every cast that followed – was sold in New Bond Street for £ 51,650 (Sotheby's London, 25 November 2009, Lot 90).
