Description

  • Silver, Gold, Copper
  • tallest 12.8cm., 5in. high
each of the four bowls modelled as a varying lily, supported by four differing animal bases; a rabbit, a fox, a monkey, and a cat, all with copper and gold embellished eyes

Condition

Clearly engraved character marks to underside. The animals nicely modelled. One dish is possibly replaced as does not have any of the same tooling as other three dishes and shows signs of solder repair to the junction. Otherwise good condition.

In Japanese culture the cat is thought to bring good luck to the owner, the fox is heavily aligned with the spirit, the rabbit with virtuousness, and the monkey, in some interpretations, promotes good health.
