- mother of pearl, ivory, vellum (cow)
- 16cm., 6 1/4 in. long
the vellum leaf painted in a vibrant palette of orange, pink and green with a lion hunt, the reverse with bulbous flowers interspersed with scrolls on a silvered ground, pierced tortoiseshell sticks and guards, mother of pearl pivot, in later case
Condition
still vivid colours despite wear and tears along folds and edges commensurate with age. one section of restoration to right hand side, can be visible on the back. Not perfectly finished: each side of the leaf have been roughly cut and stuck on the guards
