- A jewelled gold and enamel portrait snuff box, marks of Joseph-Etienne Blerzy, Paris, 1780-1781
- enamel, gold, ivory (portrait)
- 8.2cm., 3 1/4 in. wide
rectangular with cut corners, the lid set with a portrait miniature on ivory of a cardinal, said to be Cardinal de Rohan-Chabot (1734-1803), with diamond frame, blue translucent panels over a stars and wavy engine-turned ground, the borders chased and enamelled with simulated pearls and leaves, maker's mark, charge and discharges of Jean-Baptiste Fouache and Henry Clavel, Paris date letters 1780 and 1781, the rim numbered 74
Condition
some minute wear to enamel but overall good condition, 190.9 gr.
