- Desk seal: 6.4cm., 2 1/2 in. high
comprising a gold and enamel desk seal and matching pen holder, the gold mounts chased with flowers and scrolls, pierced to reveal a cerulean blue enamel ground, the chalcedony matrixes with monogram ALPK below an earl’s coronet or an earl’s coronet only, and a gold sliding pencil with seal terminal, the chalcedony matrix with motto 'Eve susut le péché', unmarked

overall good condition and very charming set. some losses and or cracks to enamel.

Catalogue Note
The initials are ALPK in monogram below an earl’s coronet for Augusta Lavinia Priscilla (1813-1904), second daughter of the 4th Earl of Bessborough, who married on 18 Marcy 1834, William Thomas, Earl of Kerry (1811-1836), elder son of Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, 3rd Marquess of Lansdowne (1780-1863). The Countess of Kerry was married secondly on 2 April 1845 to the Hon. Charles Alexander Gore (1811-1897), fifth son of the 2nd Earl of Arran.
