The iconic turbo shell jewels were first introduced by Seaman Schepps in the late 1940s. Legend has it, the collection began after a client brought Mr. Schepps a shell necklace from a trip abroad. The jeweler was immediately taken with the novel use of material, and soon began creating earclips from natural turbo shells, ornamented with gold wire, pearls, coral, turquoise and other precious gems. The series had immediate success and the turbo shell quickly became their signature jewel.
