Description

Naturalistically modelled as a salamander, pavé-set with circular-cut and cushion-shaped diamonds and accented with cabochon ruby eyes, French import marks.

Condition

Stamped to the reverse of tail and on pin with French import marks indicating gold and silver. Diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 6.20-6.80 carats in total. Clarity estimated SI2/I2, colour estimated H-J. Some diamonds are modern replacements. Rubies are red with some very fine surface scratches, with some typical inclusions visible under magnification. Scratches to metal consistent with wear. Some areas of discoloration to reverse. Brooch fitting with some play and opens quite easily. Length approximately 114mm. In good condition.
