Description

Set with a cushion-shaped sapphire, within a cushion-shaped diamond surround, brooch fitting detachable, associated fitted case stamped Cartier.

 

Condition

Accompanied by GSC, report no. 77102-72, stating that the sapphire is of Sri Lankan (Ceylon) origin, with no indication of heating, weighing approximately 9.40 carats, measuring 11.57 x 9.83 x 9.40mm. Sapphire violetish-blue, good saturation, colour zoning, typical inclusions visible under magnification, some are surface reaching, tiny scratches and small chips to facet edges. Pavillion facets rubbed and with small chips. Diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 2.60-2.70 carats, bright and lively, some with chips, overall clarity approximately SI2-I. Mount with signs of wear commensurate with age, light surface scratches, some small pits, some discoloration to reverse. Overall condition good. Pin fitting in good working order, detachable. Fitted case stamped Cartier. length approximately 31mm.
