Designed as a fly, the body composed of a cushion-shaped yellow sapphire and cabochon emerald, to circular-cut diamond eyes and wings, signed Van Cleef & Arpels, numbered, French assay marks.

Condition

Signed Van Cleef & Arpels G8.150 to reverse of collet setting. French assay marks on brooch pin indicating 18 carat gold. Yellow sapphire mid-yellow, transparent, with typical inclusions visible under magnification, some are surface reaching causing fine fractures. There are some small chips, rubbed facet edges and light surface wear to stone. Measuring approximately 11.9 x 9.5 x 5.2mm, calculated to weigh approximately 5.00-5.20 carats. Emerald mid-green, numerous typical inclusions visible by the naked eye, surface wear to stone surface. Diamonds are bright and lively, estimated to weigh approximately 0.25-0.30 carats in total. Mount with fine surface wear. Clasp closes securely. Overall condition good.
