  • Enamel/Gold/agate
Set with a rotating agate cameo depicting a female in profile, signed N. Morelli, within a frame applied with blue enamel; the reverse with an intaglio portraying a masculine face, signed Berini, brooch fitting deficient. 

Condition

Cameo dating from the first quarter 19th century, the mount second half of the 19th century. Front cameo measuring approximately 48 x 31mm, signed N. Morelli and numbered 98 to the front, intaglio to reverse signed Berini. Cameo and intaglio carved from one piece of onyx, onyx black/brown and white, opaque with some translucent areas, cracked throughout, and areas of light chipping to carving, mainly on laurel wreath on head of cameo figure. Cameo and intaglio swivel, but quite stiff and not fully reversible. Small chips to blue enamel in mount. Reverse with broken brooch fitting. Overall dimensions 66 x 48mm. In good condition.
