Catalogue Note

Mario Buccellati began his journey as one of the pre-eminent Italian goldsmiths of the 20th century as an apprentice to the renowned jewellers Beltrami & Besnati. By the second decade of the 20th century the firm was in decline and ready for re-invention at the hands of Mario Buccellati. With his distinctive style, using a technique of engraving, he transformed gold and silver into wonderful creations with a textile effect of tulle and damask.

Gianmaria, the son of Mario Buccallati, set up the brand Gianmaria Buccellati in 1971 after his father’s death. To this day the company remains a family run business which continues to create innovative, one of a kind creations.
