Two gold, emerald and diamond brooches, 'Lion ébouriffé', Van Cleef & Arpels

The eyes set with circular-cut emeralds, the muzzles pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds, the noses applied with black enamel, signed VCA, numbered, French assay and maker's marks. 

Each brooch signed VCA, smaller one numbered B1023I264, larger one numbered B1023I132. Each piece with French maker's mark for A. Pery & Cie, 7 Boulevard Saint-Denis, 75003 Paris. French assay marks and stamped OR 750 for 18 carat gold, smaller brooch inscribed 63. Emeralds well matched in colour, green, with minor scratches. Black enamel with chips and areas of loss on the smaller brooch. Diamonds bright and lively. Signs of wear to the metal consistent with age and use. Clasps secure, sliding safety catches. In good condition. Total gross weight approximately 34 grams.
