Condition

Overall very good condition. The turtle-back tiles all appear original and undisturbed. The turtle-back glass is intensely iridized as shown in the catalogue illustration. When seen with remitted light the iridized tiles present with a bright light green hue with orange accents; when seen with reflected light they display vibrant tones of yellow, green and orange. The bottom hinged door appears original and undisturbed. The inset Turtle-Back tile on the door with a hairline crack extending from the edge with the knob and measuring approximately 1 inch long which has been recently sensitively stabilized by a professional conservator. The bronze surfaces present with a rich russet brown patina. The bronze with some light surface soiling and minor traces of oxidation, some visible in the catalogue illustration on the coiled wire decoration. The wall canopy is possibly an old replacement. With a period socket. A rare form with finely articulated detailing and a beautiful glass selection.
