Condition

Overall very good condition. The turtle-back glass is beautifully iridized as shown in the catalogue illustration. When seen with remitted light the iridized tiles present with a bright light green coloration; when seen with reflected light they display with a luminous range of jewel-tone hues. One tile (in the upper tile register) with a hairline crack extending from the lower border measuring approximately 2 1/2 inches long which has been recently sensitively stabilized by a professional glass conservator. With light surface dirt to the adjacent contours of the shade leading. The bottom hinged door appears original and undisturbed. The bronze surfaces of the armature and hardware present with a rich russet brown patina. The canopy and hook all appear to be original and undisturbed. With a period socket. A superb example of Tiffany’s Turtle-Back lighting in remarkable original condition.
