Catalogue Note

The present lot is a very rare, probably unique Graff wristwatch with Islamic background and profound signification.

This lot is an early timepiece by Graff that is set with of 105 brilliant-cut diamonds and thus a real vintage rarity.

The watch includes several references and symbols of Islam:

The black textured dial is a reference to the stone of Mecca.

The Allah symbol is decorated with 66 diamonds.
The number 66 derives from ‘Allah’ through cryptic numerology.

The hands are green. That is the color of the middle, between the extremes of black and white. It is also the color of the Koran, Islam and Prophet Muhammad.

The yellow and white gold parts of the bezel are each highlighted by 19 diamonds.
The number 19 symbolically represents the Wahid, the One, the unity of Allah.
