Condition

Overall very good condition. Minor scuffs, dents, scratches and rubbing to the wooden and ebonised surfaces and minor oxidation throughout both chairs. Chair 1 (left hand chair in catalogues): Four bone elements missing to the upper elements, a further three missing near the arch. The column on the left hand side proper is loose. The tassels are slightly frayed and later replacements. The parchment seat is a later replacement covering the original and posesses splits to the front right and left corners with minor loss of material. A few pieces of metal stringing are missing in the roundels, and a further piece is lifting from the wood. The wooden roundels displaying splits throughout, and three decorative elements are missing as partially visible in the printed and online catalogues. A small section of wood panelling is missing from the rear left leg proper and is partially visible in the printed and online catalogues. A repair has been made to the panelling of the front right proper leg. Chair 2 (right hand chair in catalogues): A few of the bone elements are missing to the upper elements, and some appear to have been replaced by resin variants at a later date. The tassels are slightly frayed and are later replacements. The parchment on the seat is a later replacement, covering the original. A few elements of the metal stringing are loose but intact. The wooden roundels displaying splits throughout. There is a hairline split to the panel covering the rear left leg proper but appears to be an older repair and is stable.
