Condition

Overall very good condition consistent with age and gentle use. Oxidation to brass elements throughout concentrated to the outer rim of the mirror. Multiple scattered scuffs and scratches to the top surface and edges of the legs. Minor lifting to the veneer to the proper left hand side. Minor separation between the back proper left hand side leg and top of the table. A small area of veneer has been sensitively and professionally placed to the corner of one of the drawers, approximately 5 x 1.5 cm. A minor loss of veneer to the bottom of the same drawer. Minor wear to the corners of the second drawer.

Catalogue Note

The present lot was designed by Gio Ponti alongside the series of furniture that equipped the rooms of the Hotel Royal of Naples. Designed by the architect Gianfranco Frattini, the Hotel saw its interior complemented by his mentor and teacher's eye and craftsmanship. The light and elegant furniture pieces were produced by Mobili Dassi.
