Catalogue Note

The designs of Rotterdam based  Studio Job, founded by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel are at once provocative, tongue-in-cheek and luxurious. Bronze, a material frequently used in their designs, is used here to great effect.  Here Studio Job based their ‘Wrecking Ball Lamp’ off the design of an industrial wrecking crane. Normally used to destroy, the machine  is scaled down and reinvented to become a soft and glowing source of illumination.

Sotheby’s would like to thank Job Smeets from Studio Job for his assistance with the cataloguing of this lot.
