Catalogue Note

Zhang Zhoujie derives his work from the digital realm. Beginning with a two dimensional graph, Zhoujie translates the design into three dimensions, allowing elements of randomness and chance to permeate the final form. Following this, the stainless steel panels are each painstakingly welded together by hand. The resulting refracted finish is reminiscent of architect R. Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic domes, where sculpture, design and geometry intersect.
