Catalogue Note

The London based designer graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1986.  Working on many high-profile industrial and technology designs of the late 1980s, his work reveals a passion for weaving together technology, nature and design. His organic shapes and engaged biomimicry have led him to explore and lead many environmentally sustainable design prototypes, urban ecology scenarios and industrial products, ranging from solar street furniture and cars to furniture, lighting and water bottles. Instantly recognisable in his work is the symbiosis between sourcing nature`s designs and pushing material boundaries.

An ultimate fusion between material technical resistance and organic aesthetics, the Liquid Carbon bench is coated in carbon fibre and is immediately distinguishable as part of the studio`s aesthetic design heritage. Stretching the materials in an elastic form, both visually and literally, the sculptural quality of the design also retains the pristine finish of digital prototyping technologies.
