the male bust gracefully presented with the shoulders slightly pulled back, the collar bone, chest and shoulder contours carefully modelled, his now missing head formerly turned to his right, wearing a mantle falling from his left shoulder

Provenance

Collection of Swiss industrialist and celebrated textile collector Werner Abegg (1903-84), most probably inherited from his father Carl Abegg-Stockar (1860-1943), and thence by family descent to the present owner.

Condition

As shown. The surface has been lightly cleaned but the original ancient polish is mostly preserved.
