The sheet is attached verso to the mount in several places. Extremely close inspection reveals a small and unobtrusive handling mark to the lower edge, approximately 20 cm to the lower left corner. Further very close inspection in raking light reveals some unobtrusive rub marks in places, and a tiny speck of loss towards the lower right corner approximately 15 cm from the right edge and 5 cm from the lower edge.

Catalogue Note

“With painting, you can perceive everything on the canvas at the same time. Movements that have been painted first and last are both simultaneously present on the image field. There is no linear or causal hierarchy of activities in a painting. In that respect, painting is very anarchic and anti-narrative.”
