Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The collage elements are stable and intact. There is light wear and handling along the edges and at the corners of the work. Under close inspection there is evidence of hairline craquelure along the turning edges of the work. There is evidence of a pigment loss in the white passage of the upper left quadrant, 11 inches from the left edge and 35 ½ inches from the bottom edge. The edges of the collaged sheets are lightly deckled and torn, which is inherent to the artist’s working method. There is a soft undulation and lifting along the edges of the sheets. The oil stains on the collage sheets are inherent to the artist’s working method. Framed.

Catalogue Note

"It's a question of security to have one thing that stands. One monument inside the chaos to see that the only way to discover the beauty of that object is by the chaos, because alone with another thing maybe it's ugly, it's not desirable and then with all the insanity it starts to look proper compared to what is surrounding, it's very sane. The reason that the "thing" appears to be beautiful is because of the mirroring of chaos, the kind of social situation."
