Condition

This work is in good condition overall. There is a slight undulation to the sheet, inherent to the artist's working method, and the sheet has discolored slightly with age. There are two holes to the sheet in the upper right corner that appear to be from the time of execution and some water residue along the top left edge, also possibly from the time of execution. Under close inspection, some scattered spots of loss are visible to the black-painted areas, most notably in the lower and upper right corners and along the edges. Also under close inspection, minor losses are visible to the teal pigment along the bottom edge towards the left. The sheet is hinged verso intermittently to a board along the top and upper lateral edges. Framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note

"One day Futura and I gave a party at our studio and the Rock Steady Crew came...[they] started dancing which inspired a lot of [Haring's] early work...the moves from the break dances. And I remember it was guys spinning on their heads and stuff. Keith would see that and he would go home and make these works. So he would look at dance and see things, and he would freeze moments in his mind, and go into the studio and paint them. You could feel the movement and rhythm in his work."
