Eckert Fine Art, Naples Acquired from the above by the present owner in December 1998
"I read the word in Dante. Hoarfrost is like a mock frost, but it's a warning about the change of seasons...[I was] actually trying to dematerialize the surface as much as I could so that you had a sense of the fabric being there so light would have something to fall on."
This work is in very good condition overall. The scattered creasing appears inherent to the artist’s chosen medium. Under very close inspection, a few pinpoint brown spot accretions are visible in the upper left, near the top of the right edge and in the center of the left quadrant, and there is insect residue at the lower right edge. There are artist’s holes at the top two corners from which the work is suspended with dowels. Framed in a Plexiglas box. Please note this work has not been examined outside of its box. In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
