Condition
Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the paper tone tends more towards cream and the colours are more vibrant in the original.
Condition: This work is in very good condition. The sheet is hinged verso to the mount in several places, and there are remnants of previous mounting on the reverse. The sheet is irregularly cut on the vertical edges, and there is a small triangular cut towards the upper edge which appears to be original. There is some minor foxing in places, and a few unobtrusive creases towards the upper part of the composition. Very close inspection reveals a few small media accretions and superficial rub marks in places, and some unobtrusive surface irregularities to the paper with a slightly shiny reflection in raking light.

Catalogue Note
“The underlying sense of form in my work has been the system of the Universe, or part thereof… the idea of detached bodies floating in space, of different sizes and densities, perhaps of different colours and temperatures, and surrounded and interlarded with wisps of gaseous condition.”
