Condition
The panel onto which the canvas is laid is uncradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is stable and dirty. The varnish is clear and a bit discoloured. A handful of small retouchings are visible to the naked eye, most notably a horizontal line in the figure's coat by his sleeve approx. 3 cm. long. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a thick, milky varnish underneath which small areas of retouching are visible scattered throughout the composition. In overall good condition.
