Description
- Cajetan Roos, called Gaetano de Rosa
- Landscape with a shepherd and his herd by a river, a bridge and town beyond
- oil on canvas
Provenance
Anonymous sale, Zurich, Koller Auktionen AG, 27 March 2009, lot 3090.
Condition
The canvas is lined, the paint surface is stable and the varnish is even but slightly discoloured. Close inspection reveals a few small spots of paint loss in the lower edge, likely a result of frame abrasion. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a thick, milky varnish underneath which a handful of retouchings are visible scattered throughout the composition, but no major intervention is visible. Much of the impasto paint-work is well preserved. In overall good condition.
