Condition

The panel is cradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is stable and slightly dirty, and the varnish is uneven and slightly discoloured. There is a horizontal split halfway down the panel which runs the width of the panel. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a milky varnish underneath which two campaigns of retouching are visible. The earlier campaign consists of areas scattered throughout the composition. There are a handful of more recent retouchings, most notably along a scratch towards the centre of the panel, just below the split, approx. 3 cm. and which is also visible to the naked eye. In overall fair condition.
